Mmm - Frequently Asked Questions

So, Mmm does not spy. Then why is my firewall warning me that Mmm tries to access the internet all the time?

Mmm is looking for an update of itself. It will do that once every day. If during the daily check there is no internet connection available, Mmm will try again every hour. Once it has checked for an update it will remain quiet for another 24 hours.
There will be bug-fixes and minor updates also for Mmm FREE.
Mmm does not spy. No information about you or your system is transmitted during this check.
You can turn the Auto-check for updates option off if this bothers you.

When I open a menu on the right side of the screen, the popup-menus show up on the left side of the root-menu. And when I move the mouse into the popup-menu it closes. What's that all about?

It is because you move the mouse over the Mmm item in the menu. This tells windows you are accessing another menu-item, and thus closes the popup-menu.
To get around this, move the mouse quicker into the popup-menu.

No Adware? But Mmm FREE it is filled with ads?

Those 'ads' in Mmm FREE are just humorous hype of Mmm+. The space was available, so why not push Mmm+ there. It could do with the monetary support. There is absolutely no external adware/spyware delivered with Mmm.

Is there a way to save/backup the current configuration?

Yes, you can save the current menu-configuration as a registry file. Just bring up the configuration program, right-click anywhere in this window and select the appropriate option from the menu.

Some of my menu-items change their names depending on where I click. How do I move these to a sub-menu without having to move each and every one of them for every object I click?

You will have to get Mmm+ to do this. Mmm+ supports wildcards. You can for example add an item called *.zip* (note the *) to a sub-menu of choice, and all menu-items containing the string .zip will be moved to that sub-menu.

I am configuring in Mmm+, but it says "Explorer" up in the header.

All explorer replacements (Explorer Plus, Powerdesk, etc.) are configured as Explorer since they all more or less share the same menu structure. It makes configuring the menus faster since you can do it for all these programs in one go. All the other supported programs are configured individually.

I am putting this item out on a sub-menu, but it isn't moved when I right-click somewhere. It just stays in the root-menu. Why?

You probably have the option Smart-menu turned on. If this option is selected, a sub-menu will only be created if it would contain more than one item.

I can't find how to configure my menu in Mmm+, there is no button in the menu and no icon in the tray-area of the taskbar? Help!

You have turned off the options Show Mmm-bar and Run in Tray. Don't panic, you can still bring up the menu configuration utility by running it from the Windows Start-menu. It is recommended to turn on the option Run in Tray.

ACDSee7 is listed as a supported program in Mmm+, but it doesnt work?

To make Mmm+ work with ACDSee7 you need to select the option Show the Windows Explorer shell context menu as the default right click menu in ACDSee.

How do I uninstall Mmm?

1. Bring up the Mmm configuration window - either by clicking the colored button in the menu, or by selecting 'Mmm - Configure menu' in the start menu. 2. Right click in the window that comes up and select 'Shutdown Mmm'. 3. Uninstall Mmm by selecting 'Uninstall' from the start-menu or by using 'Add Remove Programs'. As an alternative to step 1 you can bring up the task manager and end the Mmm process and then contine with the other steps.
